Afrique dans les Cantons de l'Est 16x20"
📐 Dimensions: 16 × 20 inches
📄 Support: Stretched canvas
🎨 Medium: Acrylic paint
✅ Original, one-of-a-kind artwork – signed by the artist
Africa in the Eastern Townships is part of my ongoing Landscape Series, inspired by a place near my cabin in Quebec’s Eastern Townships, overlooking Mount Yamaska. Though rooted in this local geography, the landscape evokes memories of my travels in Africa—particularly through the solitary tree, whose form and presence recall savannah silhouettes and wide, open horizons. This personal association led me to affectionately name the place “Africa,” reflecting an emotional and visual resonance rather than a literal location.
Warm, saturated tones of orange and gold dominate the sky and fields, contrasted with deep blues and greens across the rolling hills and distant mountains. Expressive, textured brushwork emphasizes atmosphere, movement, and memory, blending observed landscape with lived experience. The setting sun and expansive foreground invite quiet contemplation, where familiarity and distance coexist within the same view.
About the Landscape Series
The Landscape Series explores places that hold personal meaning, translating travel and lived experience into textured, atmospheric paintings. Each work captures the essence of a location through colour, movement, and memory rather than strict realism.
Painting is sold unframed. Framing can be arranged upon request — a frame similar to the photos costs roughly $250 for this size.
